Anonymous student accounts
For privacy reasons, some schools do not allow students to create TalkAbroad accounts. For this situation, our anonymous student account feature allows teachers to create anonymous student accounts in a section. This feature needs to be enabled by our support team at a teacher's request.
Here's how the feature works:
Creating an anonymous student account
- Enter a name for the student account. For example, this could be the student's name or any other way you'd like to identify the student.
- Enter an email for notifications. This is optional. The email address you enter here will receive all reservation notifications. If you'd like to receive notifications for the students, you can enter your own email here. Alternatively, you could enter the email of a parent or guardian. Note that the timezone and language of the anonymous student account created will be identical to the settings in your account.
- Click Create.
After creating an anonymous student account, the name will appear in your list of students.
Click View Completed to see their completed conversations, like you can do for normal students. Select Click to share or edit account to see more options. On the options page, you can do the following:
- Update the anonymous student account name
- Update the anonymous student account email (note that this email cannot be the same as the email of another existing TalkAbroad user)
- Directly log in to the anonymous student account
- Copy the direct login link so you can share it with the student
- Enter an email address to share the login link. (When you share the link with students, please also share the link to our student instruction manual here.)
If you have any questions about how this feature works, please reach out to us by clicking on the "How can we help?" button at the bottom of the page in your account, or emails us at support@talkabroad.com.
